Set up design layouts for products
Create reusable design layouts that provide pre-arranged element combinations customers can apply with one click.
A layout is a pre-arranged combination of elements β text, images, and graphics β that customers can apply to a view with one click. Instead of adding elements individually, customers browse layout options and select a complete design starting point.
Layouts speed up the customization process and help customers who are unsure where to start.
Before you start
- You have at least one Chamevo product with views and elements configured.
- You understand how to work with the Product Builder (see Use the Product Builder).
How layouts work
A layout is itself a Chamevo product with its type set to layout instead of catalog. Each view in the layout product represents one layout option. When a customer selects a layout in the product customizer, the elements from that layout view replace (or merge with) the current canvas content.
Think of layouts as design templates within a product customizer β pre-built starting points customers can choose from.
Create a layout product
- Go to Chamevo > Products.
- Click + New Product.
- Enter a title (e.g., "T-Shirt Layouts" or "Phone Case Designs").
- Set the product type to layout.

Add layout options as views
Each view in the layout product becomes one selectable layout option.
- Add a view to the layout product.
- Name it descriptively (e.g., "Centered Logo", "Full Bleed Photo", "Text Arc").
- Upload a thumbnail that shows the layout design β this is what customers see when browsing layouts.
- Open the view in the Product Builder.
- Add and arrange elements exactly as they should appear when the customer selects this layout.
- Configure element permissions, colors, and behavior.
Repeat for each layout option you want to offer.
