Custom signs and wall art — metal signs, wooden signs, canvas prints, posters, and framed prints — require flexible layouts, large-format output, and options for both text-heavy and image-heavy designs. This guide covers configuring Chamevo for sign and wall art products.

What makes signs and wall art different

• Large physical sizes: Output files need high resolution at large dimensions (24"×36", 18"×24", etc.).
• Multiple size options: Customers choose from several sizes, each with different print area dimensions.
• Text-heavy designs: Many signs are primarily text (names, quotes, addresses, family names).
• Template-based: Customers often customize a pre-designed template rather than starting from scratch.
• Orientation: Products may come in landscape, portrait, or square orientations.

Step 1: Create the product structure

1. Go to Chamevo → Products and create a new product.
2. Open the product in the Product Builder.
3. Create a single view (most signs and wall art have one printable side).
4. Set the stage dimensions to match the aspect ratio of your most common size.

Add the background

For signs with a specific background (e.g., wood grain texture, chalkboard look):

1. Add an image element with the background texture or color.
2. Set it as not editable and not removable.
3. Set Exclude from Export if your printing process adds the background separately.

For blank canvas or poster products, use a solid background color on the canvas instead of an image.

Step 2: Design templates

For sign products, pre-designed templates dramatically improve the customer experience. Create templates with placeholder text:

1. Add text elements with sample text ("The [Last Name] Family", "Est. [Year]", etc.).
2. Set each text element as editable.
3. Position elements in an attractive layout.
4. Set fonts, sizes, and colors that work with the design.
5. Use Text Layers to give customers a form-based editing experience.

Template categories

Create multiple templates in the Products module so customers can browse designs:

• Family name signs — "The Johnsons", "Established 2020"
• Address signs — house number, street name
• Quote signs — inspirational quotes with decorative elements
