Understand AI credits and usage
Learn how AI credits work in Chamevo, what each AI feature costs, and how to monitor your usage.

AI credits power Chamevo's AI features — background removal, image upscaling, text-to-image generation, AI Photo Styles, and Virtual Try-On. Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance that resets with your billing cycle.

Generates 1–4 images from a text prompt. Default: 1 credit × 2 images = 2 credits
Credits are deducted each time a customer (or you) uses an AI feature in the product customizer.
Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle.
Unused credits do not roll over to the next month.
When credits are exhausted, AI features become unavailable until the next billing cycle.
Which features use credits
Background Removal (5 credits)
Triggered when a customer clicks the background removal option in the image editing panel. The result replaces the original image with a transparent-background version.
Enable in Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services → AI Background Removal.
Image Upscaling (2 credits)
Triggered when an uploaded image falls below the minimum DPI requirement and the customer chooses to upscale. The upscaled image replaces the original.
Enable in Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services → AI Image Upscaling.
Image Generation (credits per image × images per generation)
Triggered when a customer clicks Generate in the Text to Images tab within the Images module. Two settings decide the cost:
Image Generation Model & Resolution — each option in the dropdown shows its credits per image, from 1 to 25. Larger resolutions and newer models cost more.
Images per Generation — how many images one prompt returns, from 1 to 4. The default is 2.
The cost of one click on Generate is the credits per image multiplied by the number of images:

Each new click of Generate is charged again, even for the same prompt.
Enable and configure in Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services → AI Image Generation. See Generate images from text prompts for how to pick a model and resolution.
AI Photo Styles (credits of the image model)
Triggered when a customer applies a style from the AI Filters tool in the image toolbar. It also runs on every upload when a print profile uses the AI Photo Style on Upload option.
Each style uses one image model. The AI Photo Styles screen shows the credits per photo next to each model. Trying a style on that screen uses credits too.
Re-applying the same style to the same image does not charge again — the result is reused.
Triggered when a customer generates a try-on image showing their design on a model.
Virtual Try-On — Video (20 credits)
Triggered when a customer generates a 5-second 720p video of the try-on result.
Enable both in Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services → AI Virtual Try-On.
Control AI credit usage
Choose a lower-cost image model
Text-to-image costs depend on your model choice. To spend fewer credits:
Go to Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services.
In Image Generation Model & Resolution, pick an option with fewer credits per image.
Lower Images per Generation — 1 image per prompt is the cheapest.
Save your settings.
Limit Virtual Try-On usage per customer
If you want to prevent individual customers from consuming too many credits:
Go to Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services.
Enable Require Login for Try-On — customers must log in to use the feature.
Set Limit Period (Days) — the rolling window for counting usage (e.g., 1 for daily, 7 for weekly).
Set Max Images Per User — maximum try-on images per customer in the period. Set to 0 for unlimited.
Set Max Videos Per User — maximum try-on videos per customer in the period. Set to 0 for unlimited.
Disable AI features you don't need
Each AI feature can be individually enabled or disabled. Disable features you do not use to prevent unnecessary credit consumption:
Go to Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services.
Uncheck any features you want to disable.
Monitor usage
Check your current credit balance and usage in your account at cp.chamevo.com under your license details. The license detail page shows credits used and remaining for the current billing cycle.
Troubleshooting
AI features are not available to customers
Check that the AI feature is enabled in Chamevo → Settings → General → AI Services.
Verify your plan's monthly credits have not been exhausted.
For Virtual Try-On, check that model images are uploaded to wp-content/uploads/chamevo/tryon_models/.
Credits are consumed faster than expected
Check your text-to-image setup. A high-resolution model with 4 images per generation can use up to 100 credits per click. Pick a cheaper option or lower Images per Generation.
Check whether a print profile applies an AI Photo Style on upload. Then every customer upload uses credits.
Background removal (5 credits) and Virtual Try-On (15–20 credits) are the most expensive fixed-price operations. If your products encourage frequent use of these features, consider upgrading your plan.
Review Virtual Try-On usage limits to cap per-customer consumption.
Q: Where can I check how many AI credits I have left?
A: Log in at cp.chamevo.com and open your license details. The page shows your remaining credits for the current billing cycle.
Q: What happens when I run out of AI credits?
A: AI features become unavailable in the product customizer until your credits reset at the start of the next billing cycle.
Q: Can I roll over unused credits to the next month?
A: No. Credits reset monthly — unused credits do not carry over.
Q: Why did Image Generation deduct more than 1 credit?
A: Each generation is charged per image. The cost is the credits per image of your chosen model and resolution, multiplied by Images per Generation. The default setup charges 2 credits: 1 credit × 2 images.
Q: Which AI feature uses the most credits?
A: It depends on your setup. A high-resolution text-to-image model with 4 images can use up to 100 credits per generation. Among fixed prices, Virtual Try-On video uses 20 credits, Virtual Try-On image 15, and Background Removal 5.
