Preparing Setup for Print-Ready Files

Before you can export professional, print-ready files from your customers' designs, you need to complete a few essential setup steps. This checklist ensures that your exports meet production standards and are ready for fulfillment or professional printing.

Think of this as your pre-flight checklist – complete these four steps once, and your system will be ready to generate high-quality print files automatically.

Setup Checklist Overview

To prepare your Chamevo store for print-ready exports, you need to configure:

Print Areas – Define where designs can be placed on your products

Fonts – Set up typography options for customer text

File Upload Settings – Control file formats and quality requirements

Colorization Methods – Configure how customers can recolor designs

Each step is covered in detail in its own dedicated guide. Follow the links below to complete your setup.

Step 1: Define Print Areas

Why it matters: Exports are always based on the Print Areas you define in the Product Builder. Without them, no proper export can be generated.

Print Areas allow you to:

  • Create multiple print zones per product (front, back, sleeves)
  • Use SVG masks for custom shapes (circles, badges, cut-outs)
  • Add bleed zones and crop marks for professional printing
  • Control exactly where customer designs appear

Step 2: Configure Fonts

Why it matters: If customers can add or edit text, proper font setup ensures their text appears correctly in both the designer and final print files.

You can offer:

  • Google Fonts – Thousands of free fonts with automatic style support
  • Custom Fonts – Upload your own brand fonts with full style control

Make sure to add all font styles (Regular, Bold, Italic, Bold Italic) you want customers to use. Missing styles will be unavailable in the designer.

Step 3: Set File Upload Requirements

Why it matters: Control which file types customers can upload and enforce minimum quality standards to ensure print-ready results.

Configure:

  • Allowed file formats – JPEG, PNG, SVG, PDF
  • Minimum DPI requirements – Enforce 300+ DPI for sharp prints
  • Quality thresholds – Automatically rate uploaded images (Low/Medium/High)

Always recommend PNG, SVG, or PDF for designs. Use JPEG only for high-quality photos.

Step 4: Configure Colorization Methods

Why it matters: Give customers the ability to recolor text, SVGs, and PNG images to match their brand or preferences.

Key colorization features:

  • Color Picker – Let customers choose any color
  • Color Palette – Restrict choices to your brand colors
  • PNG Color Modes – Special recoloring effects for PNG images

PNG Color Modes Explained

Tint Mode

  • Effect: Recolors the entire image with a chosen hue while preserving light/dark balance
  • Best Use Case: Theming icons or graphics to brand colors

Multiply Mode

  • Effect: Adds a color overlay while preserving the image's hue and shading (works best on white backgrounds)
  • Best Use Case: Recoloring mockup shirts or product photos
